So for Halloween, the Chicago Bears decided to dress up as a capable football team.
If you’re anything like me, you were dreading another prime time showing for Da Bears on Monday Night Football against the NFC Central-leading Minnesota Vikings, but we wound up pleasantly surprised – not only were the Bears competitive, they were dominant.
The Bears defense was able to take advantage of a depleted offensive line for the Vikings and managed to keep their offense under control for the duration of the game, totaling five sacks with the help of an amped-up pass rush provided by Leonard Floyd and the now-healthy Pernell McPhee on the edges.
Meanwhile, the Bears offense saw the return of Jay Cutler and he didn’t make us feel sorry this time. With Cutler executing the plays and Jordan Howard running the football the offense was able to move the ball consistently and were able to get into the end zone against a pretty stout Minnesota defense.
The much needed win comes just in time as both coach John Fox and general manager Ryan Pace find themselves on the hot seat as the McCaskey family have hired an outside consulting firm to evaluate their football operations. It’ll be interesting to see what they find and recommend going forward.
Right now, the team still stinks, but at least they can go into the bye week feeling good. To celebrate the Halloween night victory we’re going Bigger and Deffer with LL Cool J’s “Kanday” to close out Week 8.
