It takes a village to raise a child but it takes an entire nation to raise a championship banner.
Chicago Blackhawks Nation took in the proud ritual of once again bringing up a lasting, commemorating symbol of excellence, this time to honor the 2014-15 Stanley Cup Champions Wednesday night in the first contest of the 2015-16 season (read Sidney Brown’s complete season preview here).
Sure, the coinciding game didn’t play out too well, but that’s sort of a tradition too — banner raising hangover is real. Let’s just take comfort that last night’s game was only 1 of 82 and that the Rangers can’t stand in the Hawks’ way to get to a fourth Stanley Cup Final in seven years. Winning it, though, is another question — time will tell.
In the meantime, if Game 1 left a bad taste in your mouth, get your refresh on by reliving each Hawks goal from the last playoff season.
