On Sunday, the U.S. Women’s National team won its first World Cup in 16 yearsin a game played at a blinding pace. If you got up to go to the kitchen for another beer (or a glass of water if that’s not your thing) you probably missed a goal.

The United States netted five, tying the tally of the men’s Brazil side in their 1958 World Cup win over Sweden for the most in finals history– men’s and women’s.

Carli Lloyd got the Americans off and running by scoring two goals from two set pieces less than five minutes into the game.

Lauren Holiday capitalized on a defensive miscue and volleyed the third home to really put Japan in hot water.

Just 15 minutes into the game, Lloyd seal a hat trick by catching the keeper off-guard from the halfway line.
