Bruce Jenner: ‘I’m a woman’

We all saw it coming but it was still amazing to see it play out. Jenner told his story the way he wanted and won even more respect than his storied athletic career provided him.

Bruce Jenner was featured on a two-hour ABC 20/20 interview on Friday night, in which the former Olympian spoke with Diane Sawyer.

“For all intents and purposes, I’m a woman,” Jenner said.

“People look at me differently. They see you as this macho male, but my heart and my soul and everything that I do in life — it is part of me,” Jenner said. “That female side is part of me. That’s who I am.”

The gold medal winner in the decathlon at the 1976 Summer Olympics said that going forward, after this interview, Jenner would live as a woman.

“I’ve always been very confused with my gender identity since I was a little kid,” Jenner, 65, said.
