The Preds held the lead in the Western Conference’s Central division for most of the second half of the season before coughing up the division title to St. Louis in the last week of the regular season. Still, Nashville is the higher seed and holds home ice advantage over the Hawks, but that didn’t mean much in the regular season.
Chicago won the regular season series 3-1 over Nashville and holds discernible advantages in stat categories like save percentage, power play percentage and penalty kill percentage — all should be useful against a Predators squad that The Hockey News says only receives second-line type production from its first line.
THN has the Hawks winning in six — for Sidney Brown’s breakdown and prediction of the series stay with WARR as we’ll have that in time for Game 1 this Wednesday.
UPDATE: Adding to the Hawks’ forward momentum, the team announced Monday afternoon that leading scorer and MVP-candidate Patrick Kane will play in Game 1 against Nashville, accelerating a return from a broken collarbone he suffered in late February, which originally was expected to keep him out until the conference finals at the earliest.
