The new All-Star showed out once again after missing out on all the fun Tuesday at Golden State.
Wasn’t so much fun this time around in a double-overtime loss, but Butler proved once again why he’s one of the NBA’s best two-way players right now and why he stands a chance to be a difference-maker in the League for years to come. Butler’s place as an elite basketball player was solidified earlier in the day when he was named one of the Eastern Conference’s reserves for February’s All-Star Game in New York, joining teammate and starter Pau Gasol on the squad.
And on top of all this, it looks like the Butler will also serve as a pitchman with the Chicago Tribune reporting that Mountain Dew has signed him on to promote their brand.
Its been a truly trans-formative season for the Texas native with the humble beginnings who now is as far away from struggle as possible and it all makes for one of Chicago’s best feel-good sports stories in quite a while. Bulls management has promised to match any max offer on the soon-to-be much richer Butler.
Arguments can be made as to who’s Bulls team it is now and Butler is to be included in all that — his stakes have been claimed and they’re getting higher by the game.
