Sox continuing to unload dead weight but simply putting Dunn on waivers seems like too-little-too late.
I’d like to know how much of an effort was made to unload Dunn before the trade deadline. Maybe they made a good effort and couldn’t attract any real suitors.
As it stands the Sox might not get much for him and they’ll have to eat most of the remaining $20 mil they owe him, unlike the situation they’ve fallen into with Texas reaching out for Alex Rios — there the Sox have more control with what they can get from Texas and they will unload $15 mil of salary owed to Rios over the remainder of his contract.
What do you think of the way the Sox have played the role of seller during this year’s trade/waivers period?
